Call for Papers
It is our pleasure to invite you to participate in the IEEE International Conference on Smart Materials and Spectroscopy (SMS’2018), which will be hosted by the Laboratory of Spectroscopic and Optical Characterization of Materials (LaSCOM) at the Faculty of Sciences of Sfax and Laboratory of Physics of Materials and Nanomaterials Applied and Environment (LaPhyMNE) at the Faculty of Sciences of Gabes (Tunisia), in collaboration with the IEEE Tunisia section, and will be held in a 5* Hotel in Yassmine Hammamet (Tunisia) on 12-15 October, 2018.
The SMS’2018 conference provides an excellent opportunity for researchers and practitioners at all levels of experience to meet colleagues and to share new ideas and knowledge about Smart Materials and Spectroscopy. The conference enjoys strong participation from researchers in both industry and academia.
Relevant topics include (but are not limited to):
Proceedings: Registered and Presented papers will be submitted for inclusion into IEEE Xplore as well as other Abstracting and Indexing (A&I) databases.
Paper submissions: Papers must describe original work on any of the SMS related topics.
The submission and reviews for SMS will be handled through the Easy Chair conference management system. Easy Chair – SMS 2018.
Authors can submit Abstract or Full paper. Only accepted and presented full papers will be submitted to IEEE Xplore.
Manuscript length: 6 pages maximum. This is a strict limit for initial submission. During final submission of accepted papers, authors may purchase extra pages if they find it necessary to address the concerns of the reviewers.
Single blind reviewing: SMS follows a single-blind review process. Authors are required to include their names and affiliations in their papers as illustrated in the sample templates. Templates (Microsoft Word and LaTeX) can be found at the following link:

Ethical Requirements for Authors
The workshop committee requires that all authors wishing to present a paper declare that:
- The paper is substantially original and that no paper substantially similar in content has been submitted or will be submitted to any other conference or journal during the SMS 2018 review period.
- The paper does not contain any plagiarism, and
- The paper will be presented by the author or a co-author in person.
